enome Canada funds six Science & Technology Innovation Centres across Canada that provide the tools and expertise to analyze genomes in various ways. The Innovation Centres include services such as DNA sequencing, mapping, genotyping, microarrays, genetic analysis, proteomics and bioinformatics. Funded Innovation Centres are located in Victoria, Vancouver (2), Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. See the list below for the services provided in each.
While the primary mandate of the Innovation Centres is to provide genomic, proteomic and bioinformatics technology services for all Genome Canada-funded projects, a minimum of 20 per cent of the Innovation Centre’s services are dedicated to collaborations with non-Genome Canada funded researchers.
Most Innovation Centres include three components: Service, Operations Support, and Technology Development. These components serve distinct purposes and are funded in different ways.
