Les chercheurs sur le bl\u00e9 disposeront ainsi d\u2019une nouvelle ressource captivante pour identifierles g\u00e8nes les plus importants dans l\u2019adaptation du bl\u00e9, sa r\u00e9action au stress, sa r\u00e9sistance aux ravageurs et l\u2019am\u00e9lioration du rendement.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Une combinaison d\u2019outils logiciels, d\u2019outils de bio-informatique et de programmation informatique perfectionn\u00e9sa permis au Consortium international de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9 d\u2019utiliser les technologies actuelles de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age pour examiner presque tout le g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9. Ce s\u00e9quen\u00e7age compl\u00e9tera les strat\u00e9gies existantes du Consortium, ax\u00e9es sur un chromosome \u00e0 la fois.<\/p>\n<p>Le Consortium s\u2019attend d\u2019obtenir un tableau complet du puzzle du g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9 (17&nbsp;milliards de paires de bases) et d\u2019avoir une id\u00e9e pr\u00e9cise de l\u2019ordonnancement des g\u00e8nes d\u2019ici deux ans. Le g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9 \u00e9tant cinq fois la taille du g\u00e9nome humain, les estimations ant\u00e9rieures laissaient entendre que ces travaux n\u00e9cessiteraient de quatre \u00e0 cinq ans de plus.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Les outils de calcul mis au point par NRGene, qui utilisent les donn\u00e9es de s\u00e9quence d\u2019Illumina, alli\u00e9s aux comp\u00e9tences sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es en s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du Consortium, ont produit une version de la s\u00e9quence du g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9 mieux ordonnanc\u00e9e que tout ce que nous avons vu jusqu\u2019\u00e0 maintenant. Nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 avoir une meilleure id\u00e9e du puzzle complexe qu\u2019est le g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9&nbsp;\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M.&nbsp;Pozniak.<\/p>\n<p>Il en r\u00e9sultera une bien meilleure pr\u00e9cision au moment de la s\u00e9lection.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Imaginez que vous disposez d\u2019un plan d\u00e9taill\u00e9 de l\u2019ordre des pi\u00e8ces importantes du puzzle du g\u00e9nome du bl\u00e9. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette information, il devient beaucoup plus facile et rapide d\u2019assembler le puzzle pour cr\u00e9er des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s nouvelles et am\u00e9lior\u00e9es, explique M.&nbsp;Pozniak. Cette s\u00e9quence n\u2019est cependant que la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape. Il reste encore beaucoup \u00e0 faire pour d\u00e9finir la fonction de chacune des pi\u00e8ces g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques pour que les phytog\u00e9n\u00e9ticiens puissent d\u00e9terminer les meilleurs g\u00e8nes dans le patrimoine g\u00e9n\u00e9tique.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame si les travaux n\u2019ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s que pour une seule vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de bl\u00e9 commun (dite Chinese Spring), les nouvelles connaissances serviront de fondement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lucidation du plan g\u00e9n\u00e9tique d\u00e9taill\u00e9 pour trouver les traits dans d\u2019autres vari\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9galement, ce qui acc\u00e9l\u00e9rera de beaucoup la recherche mondiale sur l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des cultures, a-t-il dit.<\/p>\n<p>Nils Stein d\u2019IPK Gatersleben en Allemagne a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la nouvelle s\u00e9quence repr\u00e9sente \u00ab&nbsp;une perc\u00e9e importante&nbsp;\u00bb pour leConsortium qui s\u2019emploie \u00e0 publier une s\u00e9quence ordonnanc\u00e9e pour chacun des 21&nbsp;chromosomes du bl\u00e9 commun.<\/p>\n<p>Coordonn\u00e9 par le Consortium, le projet utilise le logiciel DeNovoMAGICTM de NRGene, \u00e0 ses installations en Isra\u00ebl, en combinaison avec la technologie de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age d\u2019Illumina.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet collaboratif public-priv\u00e9 est codirig\u00e9 par MM.&nbsp;Stein, Pozniak et Andrew Sharpe du Global Institute for Food Security de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Saskatchewan, ainsi que Jesse Poland de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9tat du Kansas. La publication de la s\u00e9quence ordonnanc\u00e9e de chaque chromosome du bl\u00e9 qui situe pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment les g\u00e8nes et les marqueurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques le long des chromosomes fournira des outils pr\u00e9cieux aux phytog\u00e9n\u00e9ticiens du bl\u00e9, a-t-elle dit.<\/p>\n<p>Le bl\u00e9 est un aliment de premi\u00e8re n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 pour plus du tiers de la population humaine mondiale. La d\u00e9pendance par rapport au bl\u00e9 cro\u00eet, tout comme s\u2019accro\u00eet la population mondiale. Pour r\u00e9pondre aux exigences futures desquelque 9,6&nbsp;milliards de personnes quipeupleront la plan\u00e8te d\u2019ici&nbsp;2050, la productivit\u00e9 du bl\u00e9 doit augmenter annuellement de 1,6&nbsp;%.
