{"id":18954,"date":"2022-04-20T15:48:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T19:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/?p=18954"},"modified":"2022-04-29T15:50:25","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T15:50:25","slug":"linnovation-a-foison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/fr\/linnovation-a-foison\/","title":{"rendered":"L&rsquo;innovation \u00e0 foison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genomecanada.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/genome_canada_harvesting_innovation.jpg\" alt=\"L'innovation \u00e0 foison\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Des chercheurs de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Saskatchewan ont form\u00e9 un partenariat avec Indigo Agriculture Inc. pour utiliser la science g\u00e9nomique dans un effort international pour produire des cultures bien adapt\u00e9es aux conditions du XXIe si\u00e8cle et r\u00e9pondre aux exigences nutritionnelles et industrielles grandissantes du monde.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selon les pr\u00e9visions de l\u2019Organisation des Nations Unies pour l\u2019alimentation et l\u2019agriculture, la production alimentaire mondiale devra augmenter de 70 % avant 2050 pour nourrir une population mondiale en croissance. Cet objectif est compliqu\u00e9 par le fait que les cultures devront s\u2019adapter aux conditions extr\u00eames des changements climatiques et \u00e0 la disparition progressive des sources d\u2019eau potable.<\/p>\n<p>Assurer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire dans le monde malgr\u00e9 ces conditions est jug\u00e9 comme un d\u00e9fi si difficile \u00e0 relever qu\u2019il vient au second rang des 17 objectifs du d\u00e9veloppement durable des Nations Unies, apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9limination de la pauvret\u00e9. Des chercheurs ont relev\u00e9 ce d\u00e9fi en d\u00e9ployant les outils de recherche issus de la g\u00e9nomique. Cet effort est comparable \u00e0 la R\u00e9volution verte des ann\u00e9es 1960 qui a utilis\u00e9 les progr\u00e8s de l\u2019agronomie pour accro\u00eetre de mani\u00e8re spectaculaire les rendements culturaux en Inde et d\u2019autres pays en d\u00e9veloppement.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00ab Ce partenariat tr\u00e8s fructueux t\u00e9moigne d\u2019une collaboration public-priv\u00e9 qui a fait ses preuves en recherche de solutions utiles pour les produits agricoles novateurs pr\u00eats \u00e0 commercialiser. Nous esp\u00e9rons qu\u2019il a ouvert la porte \u00e0 d\u2019autres possibilit\u00e9s de partenariats semblables qui profitent \u00e0 la fois aux producteurs et \u00e0 l\u2019environnement. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; Ray Riley, vice-pr\u00e9sident principal, D\u00e9veloppement des produits, Indigo Agriculture\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Pour d\u00e9crire la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019op\u00e9rer une deuxi\u00e8me R\u00e9volution verte, le philanthrope Bill Gates a dit : \u00ab L\u2019attaque \u00e0 mener est claire : il nous faut mettre au point des cultures qui peuvent pousser pendant une s\u00e9cheresse, survivre \u00e0 une inondation, r\u00e9sister aux insectes ravageurs et aux maladies\u2026 il nous faut des rendements sup\u00e9rieurs sur les m\u00eames terres dans des conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques plus difficiles \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet financ\u00e9 par G\u00e9nome Canada et intitul\u00e9 Enrichissement du microbiote v\u00e9g\u00e9tal pour am\u00e9liorer le rendement cultural et la r\u00e9sistance au stress s\u2019appuie sur des d\u00e9couvertes en sciences g\u00e9nomiques des cultures des microbiologistes de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Saskatchewan, Vladimir Vujanovic et Jim Germida, Ph. D. Ces derniers ont d\u00e9couvert dans les tissus v\u00e9g\u00e9taux un groupe de microbes symbiotiques qui peut consid\u00e9rablement accro\u00eetre la germination des graines, le rendement et la r\u00e9sistance au stress caus\u00e9 par la s\u00e9che-resse et la chaleur pour plus de 20 vari\u00e9t\u00e9s de bl\u00e9, l\u2019orge, les l\u00e9gumineuses et le canola. La production annuelle de ces cultures se chiffre \u00e0 plus de 15 milliards de dollars au Canada seulement.<\/p>\n<p>La transformation et la commercialisation de ces travaux de recherche par Indigo aideront les agriculteurs en acc\u00e9l\u00e9rant le d\u00e9veloppement de cultures qui seront en meilleure sant\u00e9 et donneront de meilleurs rendements.
