{"id":18978,"date":"2022-04-20T16:04:22","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/?p=18978"},"modified":"2022-04-29T16:06:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T16:06:48","slug":"une-innovation-de-chez-nous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/fr\/une-innovation-de-chez-nous\/","title":{"rendered":"Une innovation de chez nous"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genomecanada.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/genome_canada_homegrown_innovation.jpg\" alt=\"Une innovation de chez nous\" \/><\/h2>\n<div>\n<h2>Les mat\u00e9riaux biocomposites faits \u00e0 partir de la fibre de lin m\u00e9tisse pourraient fournir au secteur de l\u2019automobile et \u00e0 d\u2019autres des pi\u00e8ces plus l\u00e9g\u00e8res, plus solides et biod\u00e9gradables.<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Les v\u00e9hicules utilitaires urbains hybrides (essence et \u00e9lectricit\u00e9) des mod\u00e8les GO-4 et GO-4 EV de 1,3 m de large, fabriqu\u00e9s par Westward Industries de Winnipeg, sont des v\u00e9hicules qui conviennent parfaitement aux organismes d\u2019application des r\u00e8glements de stationnement, aux services de police, aux a\u00e9roports et \u00e0 divers autres usagers. Ils pourraient devenir encore plus efficaces gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un projet novateur qui vise \u00e0 remplacer le compartiment en aluminium et en acier o\u00f9 s\u2019assoit le conducteur par une \u00ab cuve \u00bb construite \u00e0 l\u2019aide de mat\u00e9riaux biocomposites plus l\u00e9gers, plus solides, insonores et biod\u00e9gradables.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab C\u2019est une situation gagnante \u00e0 tous les \u00e9gards, dit Stefano Franz, pr\u00e9sident de Westward Industries. Ces mat\u00e9riaux acc\u00e9l\u00e9reront le processus de fabrication et aideront l\u2019environnement. Les pi\u00e8ces m\u00e9talliques peuvent \u00eatre recycl\u00e9es, mais exigent beaucoup d\u2019\u00e9nergie. La r\u00e9duction du poids am\u00e9liore en outre l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le Canada est le chef de file mondial de la production de lin. La tige de la plante produit une fibre tr\u00e8s solide pour laquelle il y a peu de demande, une fois les graines extraites. Il y a cinq ans, dans le cadre d\u2019un projet financ\u00e9 par G\u00e9nome Canada, les chercheurs de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de l\u2019Alberta ont \u00e9lucid\u00e9 le code g\u00e9n\u00e9tique du lin. Ces progr\u00e8s ont ouvert la voie au projet FiCoGEN (Mat\u00e9riau composite \u00e0 base de fibres et g\u00e9nomique de la biomatrice), dans le cadre duquel le lin et d\u2019autres fibres biologiques sont alli\u00e9s \u00e0 une r\u00e9sine naturelle pour fabriquer des biocomposites destin\u00e9s \u00e0 des utilisateurs tels que Westward Industries qui pourraient produire un prototype de son nouveau v\u00e9hicule d\u2019ici l\u2019automne.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9sine vient du laboratoire de David Levin, professeur au D\u00e9partement de g\u00e9nie des biosyst\u00e8mes de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Manitoba et le chercheur universitaire responsable de FiCoGEN. M. Levin et son groupe ont utilis\u00e9 une nouvelle bact\u00e9rie qui cro\u00eet sur les sous-produits \u00ab d\u00e9chets \u00bb de la production du biodiesel pour fabriquer un polym\u00e8re biod\u00e9gradable. \u00ab Si nous pouvons utiliser les r\u00e9sidus pour produire ces polym\u00e8res, dit-il, nous aurons boucl\u00e9 la boucle et am\u00e9lior\u00e9 les choses, en les rendant plus efficientes pour la plan\u00e8te. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le projet est chapeaut\u00e9 depuis le d\u00e9but par le Composites Innovation Centre (CIC) de Winnipeg, une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 sans but lucratif qui finance la R-D et la commercialisation des biocomposites. Ces mat\u00e9riaux sont faits \u00e0 partir de fibres de lin et de chanvre; ces derniers sont cultiv\u00e9s au Canada et n\u00e9cessitent tr\u00e8s peu d\u2019herbicides, de pesticides et d\u2019irrigation. Leurs fibres pourraient remplacer la fibre de verre dans les secteurs de l\u2019automobile, de l\u2019a\u00e9rospatiale et du transport maritime, dit le pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction du CIC, Sean McKay. Alli\u00e9e au ciment, la fibre pourrait \u00e9galement servir de mat\u00e9riau de construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab La collection mondiale de base compte plus de 500 vari\u00e9t\u00e9s de lin, dit M. McKay.
