{"id":18983,"date":"2022-04-20T16:07:34","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T20:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/?p=18983"},"modified":"2022-05-03T20:29:16","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T20:29:16","slug":"solutions-en-haute-mer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genomecanada.ca\/fr\/solutions-en-haute-mer\/","title":{"rendered":"Solutions en haute mer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>La recherche de p\u00e9trole au fond de l\u2019oc\u00e9an est un d\u00e9fi qui rel\u00e8ve de l\u2019aiguille dans une botte de foin, mais les bact\u00e9ries qui consomment les hydrocarbures peuvent aider \u00e0 cibler des lieux de forage prometteurs.<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Le talus N\u00e9o-\u00c9cossais, une surface de 160 000 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s de fond marin au sud de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse est une zone attrayante, mais difficile pour l\u2019exploration p\u00e9troli\u00e8re. L\u2019industrie \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique a investi 37 milliards de dollars dans l\u2019exploitation extrac\u00f4ti\u00e8re dans la r\u00e9gion de l\u2019Atlantique au cours des deux derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies, mais on sait peu de choses de ce qui se trouve au-del\u00e0 du talus N\u00e9o-\u00e9cossais, ce qui rend la recherche de sites de forage longue et co\u00fbteuse.<\/p>\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un partenariat du minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9nergie de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse et du Groupe de g\u00e9omicrobiologie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Calgary, les entreprises d\u2019exploration pourraient \u00eatre orient\u00e9es dans la bonne direction par de minuscules aides. Une cuiller \u00e0 caf\u00e9 de s\u00e9diments du fond oc\u00e9anique contient environ un milliard de bact\u00e9ries. Certaines d\u2019entre elles \u00ab mangent \u00bb les hydrocarbures et peuvent indiquer la pr\u00e9sence de p\u00e9trole sous la surface et aider ainsi \u00e0 cibler des endroits prometteurs pour le forage de puits d\u2019essai.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Nous utilisons la g\u00e9nomique pour effectuer un \u201crecensement\u201d des microorganismes dans des \u00e9chantillons de s\u00e9diments du fond marin, dit le dirigeant du Groupe de g\u00e9omicrobiologie, Casey Hubert, Ph. D. L\u2019ADN nous renseigne sur la composition de cette population. Une forte proportion des bact\u00e9ries sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es qui d\u00e9gradent les hydrocarbures pourrait indiquer la pr\u00e9sence souterraine d\u2019un gisement p\u00e9trolif\u00e8re. Si les donn\u00e9es g\u00e9nomiques, g\u00e9ophysiques, chimiques et sismiques concordent, ce pourrait \u00eatre un endroit de pr\u00e9dilection pour le p\u00e9trole. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Les travaux sur le terrain de ce projet ont commenc\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier \u00e0 bord du\u00a0<em>Hudson<\/em>, un navire de la Garde c\u00f4ti\u00e8re canadienne. Les carottes de forage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es \u00e0 des profondeurs atteignant 2 500 m\u00e8tres. Certaines ont \u00e9t\u00e9 analys\u00e9es dans un laboratoire \u00e0 bord du\u00a0<em>Hudson<\/em>; d\u2019autres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 envoy\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Calgary. Cet \u00e9t\u00e9, l\u2019un des objectifs de la saison sur le terrain, explique M. Hubert, est de tenter d\u2019effectuer plus de recherche g\u00e9nomique \u00e0 bord du navire pour que ce dernier puisse rapidement retourner \u00e0 un endroit pr\u00e9cis si les r\u00e9sultats sont int\u00e9ressants.<\/p>\n<p>En plus des bact\u00e9ries a\u00e9robies et ana\u00e9robies (qui, respectivement, ont besoin et n\u2019ont pas besoin d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne pour cro\u00eetre), M. Hubert s\u2019int\u00e9resse aux bact\u00e9ries thermophiles qui, croit-on, montent \u00e0 la surface du fond oc\u00e9anique avec les hydrocarbures. Ces thermophiles pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent les temp\u00e9ratures \u00e9lev\u00e9es et sont inactifs jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que des \u00e9chantillons de s\u00e9diments soient chauff\u00e9s, ce qui indique le potentiel de gisement de p\u00e9trole chaud loin sous le fond marin. L\u2019\u00e9quipe esp\u00e8re que la combinaison des donn\u00e9es sur les trois types de bact\u00e9ries contribuera \u00e0 brosser un tableau plus complet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab C\u2019est une recherche de pointe qui exige beaucoup d\u2019int\u00e9gration, dit Adam MacDonald, un g\u00e9ophysicien p\u00e9trolier du minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9nergie de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse. Je suis optimiste quant \u00e0 son utilit\u00e9.
