Paul L\u2019Archev\u00eaque, pr\u00e9sident et directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec, ont annonc\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui un projet de recherche \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle en g\u00e9nomique visant le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age de souches multiples de la bact\u00e9rie <i>Clostridium difficile (C. difficile)<\/i>. Le montant total de la recherche, financ\u00e9e \u00e0 parts \u00e9gales par G\u00e9nome Canada et G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec, s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 388 625 $. De plus, les Instituts de recherche en sant\u00e9 du Canada et leurs partenaires offrent une bourse de niveau postdoctoral \u00e0 un chercheur qui participera \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude. La maladie \u00e0 <i>Clostridium difficile<\/i> constitue un probl\u00e8me d\u2019envergure dans le secteur de la sant\u00e9. La maladie s\u2019av\u00e8re un sujet de pr\u00e9occupation s\u00e9rieux et constant partout au Canada. Dans le cadre de ce projet de recherche d\u2019une dur\u00e9e de 18 mois, les chercheurs proc\u00e9deront au s\u00e9quen\u00e7age complet de huit isolats de <i>C. difficile<\/i>. Leurs travaux consisteront \u00e0 :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00e9valuer la diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de souches et entre elles;<\/li>\n<li>dresser des catalogues des g\u00e8nes et des prot\u00e9ines;<\/li>\n<li>chercher d\u2019autres g\u00e8nes susceptibles de contribuer \u00e0 l\u2019augmentation de la virulence et\/ou de la r\u00e9sistance antimicrobienne;<\/li>\n<li>commencer \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer comment diff\u00e9rentes toxines et diff\u00e9rents g\u00e8nes peuvent \u00eatre mis en corr\u00e9lation avec la capacit\u00e9 de causer la maladie. \u00ab<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>L\u2019annonce d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui s\u2019inscrit tout \u00e0 fait dans l\u2019esprit des objectifs que nous nous sommes fix\u00e9s dans notre r\u00e9cent plan \u00e9conomique Avantage Canada. Elle concr\u00e9tise l\u2019engagement du nouveau gouvernement du Canada \u00e0 appuyer l\u2019excellence en recherche et \u00e0 faire en sorte que ses r\u00e9sultats se traduisent par des retomb\u00e9es socio\u00e9conomiques pour les Canadiennes et les Canadiens et en solutions concr\u00e8tes qui am\u00e9liorent leur sant\u00e9 \u00bb, a dit le ministre Bernier. \u00ab Cette initiative est le fruit de la collaboration et des<a class=\"F1838RObR6\" style=\"z-index: 2147483647;\" title=\"Click to Continue &gt; by WA\" href=\"#93177064\"> investissements<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cdncache-a.akamaihd.net\/items\/it\/img\/arrow-10x10.png\" \/><\/a> de toutes les parties, y compris le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral et le gouvernement du Qu\u00e9bec. Les partenariats sont essentiels et il est primordial de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rer dans cette voie. Elle est une manifestation concr\u00e8te du f\u00e9d\u00e9ralisme d\u2019ouverture pratiqu\u00e9 par notre gouvernement \u00bb, a-\u00adt-\u00adil ajout\u00e9. \u00ab Pendant des ann\u00e9es, la bact\u00e9rie C. difficile a \u00e9t\u00e9 un probl\u00e8me sporadique de faible envergure, mais des souches hypervirulentes sont apparues au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et l\u2019incidence de la maladie est \u00e0 la hausse. Nous ne savons pas pourquoi ces nouvelles variantes de l\u2019organisme sont plus violentes. Le projet de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome am\u00e9liorera consid\u00e9rablement notre capacit\u00e9 de comprendre cette virulence inhabituelle \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le D<sup>r<\/sup> Calvin Stiller. Pour Paul L\u2019Archev\u00eaque, pr\u00e9sident et directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec, il ne fait nul doute qu\u2019encore une fois, l\u2019effet structurant fait ses preuves. \u00ab Outre l\u2019aspect tr\u00e8s prometteur de la science de M. Dewar, la beaut\u00e9 de ce projet r\u00e9side dans la relation qui existe entre plusieurs efforts de recherche \u00bb a soulign\u00e9 M. L\u2019Archev\u00eaque. En mettant l\u2019\u00e9paule \u00e0 la roue d\u2019un projet initi\u00e9 par le Fonds de recherche en sant\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec, G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec et G\u00e9nome Canada viennent soutenir un effort compl\u00e9mentaire en g\u00e9nomique. \u00ab En favorisant la multidisciplinarit\u00e9 et la concertation, on en arrive \u00e0 unir des forces, et ce, pour le plus grand b\u00e9n\u00e9fice de la population \u00bb, a-\u00adt-\u00adil ajout\u00e9. Gr\u00e2ce au projet, les chercheurs canadiens et \u00e9trangers pourront mettre au point de meilleurs tests de d\u00e9tection de <i>C. difficile<\/i> et de diagnostic; ils pourront d\u00e9crire les facteurs qui peuvent influencer la virulence, et pr\u00e9voir d\u2019autres exp\u00e9riences au cours desquelles ils d\u00e9finiront des g\u00e8nes responsables et leurs r\u00f4les dans la pathogen\u00e8se. Ces r\u00e9sultats sont des \u00e9tapes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration de nouvelles strat\u00e9gies de lutte contre la maladie et de traitement. \u00ab Il faudra peut\u00ad\u00eatre du temps pour mettre au point des th\u00e9rapies et des mesures de pr\u00e9vention \u00e0 partir de l\u2019information obtenue gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude. Cette derni\u00e8re m\u00e8nera n\u00e9anmoins \u00e0 des moyens plus efficaces d\u2019identifier les souches hypervirulentes de <i>C. difficile<\/i> \u00bb, a conclu M.
