Son mandat de base consiste \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer les structures tridimensionnelles de prot\u00e9ines humaines importantes sur le plan m\u00e9dical ainsi que des prot\u00e9ines de parasites humains qui repr\u00e9sentent des cibles possibles pour la mise au point de m\u00e9dicaments.<\/p>\n<p>Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 maintenant, le CGS a effectu\u00e9 plus de 25 % de la production mondiale des nouvellesstructures de prot\u00e9ines humaines et plus de 50 % de la production mondiale de structures prot\u00e9iques de parasites humains. Le CGS est dirig\u00e9 par M. Aled Edwards de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Toronto, et d&rsquo;autres activit\u00e9s se d\u00e9roulent \u00e0 l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 d&rsquo;Oxford. Chaque site est dirig\u00e9 par un directeur scientifique qui rel\u00e8ve de M. Edwards. Le CGS a commenc\u00e9 en 2003 et les deux premi\u00e8res phases du projet ont obtenu des r\u00e9sultats qui ont largement d\u00e9pass\u00e9 les objectifs initiaux. La phase III du CGS a commenc\u00e9 le 1er juillet 2011. Les partenaires du financement ont engag\u00e9 au total 61 millions de dollars dont 28 millions proviennent du secteur public (notamment 2,5 millions de dollars pour un an de G\u00e9nome Canada) et 33 millions de dollars du secteur priv\u00e9, soit GSK, Pfizer, Novartis, Lilly, Life Technologies, Laboratoires Abbott, Takeda Pharmaceuticals et deux autres nouvelles soci\u00e9t\u00e9s qui ont demand\u00e9 d\u2019en faire partie.
