De premiers travaux avaient cependant laiss\u00e9 voir que les mutations les plus pertinentes r\u00e9sident dans les r\u00e9gions r\u00e9gulatrices. Le projet en g\u00e9n\u00e9tique r\u00e9gulatrice avait pour objet d\u2019identifier les variations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques qui influencent la r\u00e9gulation des g\u00e8nes et peuvent causer des maladies complexes courantes. Le programme de g\u00e9n\u00e9tique r\u00e9gulatrice s\u2019est av\u00e9r\u00e9 tr\u00e8s fructueux.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons d\u00e9couvert des g\u00e8nes dot\u00e9s d\u2019un \u00ab haplotype \u00bb r\u00e9gulateur \u2013 des variations qui se sont regroup\u00e9es en blocs d\u2019ADN \u2013 dont plusieurs interviennent dans des maladies courantes comme l\u2019asthme et la leuc\u00e9mie. Le projet pourra servir de fondement \u00e0 un large \u00e9ventail de projets scientifiques en pharmacologie, en g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, en m\u00e9decine, en biologie cellulaire et en biologie computationnelle qui approfondiront la compr\u00e9hension des maladies complexes et les m\u00e9dicaments connexes. Nous avons \u00e9galement associ\u00e9 plusieurs SNP \u2013 des variations dans un nucl\u00e9otide simple \u2013 et des maladies.<\/p>\n<p>Ces r\u00e9sultats pourront \u00eatre approfondis pour ensuite \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s en sant\u00e9 publique (identification des risques de maladies chroniques) et en clinique (diagnostic, pharmacog\u00e9n\u00e9tique et pharmacoth\u00e9rapie). M\u00eame s\u2019il faudra une validation additionnelle, l\u2019identification opportune des personnes susceptibles de d\u00e9velopper une maladie chronique peut faire r\u00e9aliser d\u2019importantes \u00e9conomies. L\u2019industrie participera vraisemblablement \u00e0 la mise au point de trousses de d\u00e9pistage sp\u00e9cifiques. L\u2019\u00e9quipe de projet a mis au point plusieurs technologies et logiciels qui sont utilis\u00e9s partout dans le monde et qui ont, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 maintenant, produit quelque 300 000 $ en recettes li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019octroi de licences.<\/p>\n<p>Plus important encore, nous avons constitu\u00e9 un groupe interuniversitaire de collaborateurs qui travaille maintenant dans le domaine important de la r\u00e9gulation des g\u00e8nes en relation avec les maladies.
