Nos travaux ont port\u00e9 sur l\u2019\u00e9volution mol\u00e9culaire de bact\u00e9ries (procaryotes) dans le but d\u2019analyser les m\u00e9canismes de la vie \u00e0 leur plus simple expression. Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, l\u2019\u00e9quipe de projet a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 comprendre le r\u00f4le jou\u00e9 par le transfert lat\u00e9ral des g\u00e8nes, ou blocs de g\u00e8nes, entre les lign\u00e9es et les esp\u00e8ces dans l\u2019\u00e9volution et l\u2019adaptation des bact\u00e9ries. Par exemple, les bact\u00e9ries n&rsquo;ont pas chang\u00e9 au fil du temps, selon la th\u00e9orie traditionnelle de la s\u00e9lection naturelle de Darwin, en tant que ramification de ce qu&rsquo;on appelle l\u2019arbre de vie. Les g\u00e8nes passent plut\u00f4t d\u2019une bact\u00e9rie \u00e0 l\u2019autre, selon un mod\u00e8le qui ressemble davantage \u00e0 une toile.<\/p>\n<p>En \u00e9tudiant les bact\u00e9ries, notre groupe est devenu l\u2019un des principaux intervenants, sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale, de l&rsquo;\u00e9laboration de m\u00e9thodes de reconstitution de l&rsquo;histoire des g\u00e8nes et du g\u00e9nome \u00e0 partir des s\u00e9quences. Notre int\u00e9r\u00eat pour les m\u00e9thodes computationnelles en g\u00e9nomique microbienne comparative et notre capacit\u00e9 en la mati\u00e8re sont maintenant aussi solides que n\u2019importe quel autre dans le monde.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons aussi produit r\u00e9cemment des donn\u00e9es exp\u00e9rimentales des plus int\u00e9ressantes sur la recombinaison et le transfert g\u00e9n\u00e9tique lat\u00e9ral dans la nature et nous avons mis au point plusieurs m\u00e9thodes importantes pour la suite des travaux de recherche en \u00ab m\u00e9tag\u00e9nomique \u00bb, domaine assez nouveau de la recherche en g\u00e9n\u00e9tique qui permet d\u2019\u00e9tudier des organismes difficiles \u00e0 faire cro\u00eetre en laboratoire et ceux qui vivent dans leur environnement naturel.<\/p>\n<p>Nous nous concentrons maintenant sur l\u2019application de notre th\u00e9orie et de nos m\u00e9thodes de m\u00e9tag\u00e9nomique \u00e0 la r\u00e9solution de probl\u00e8mes pratiques en biorestauration. De nombreux g\u00e8nes sp\u00e9cifiques au m\u00e9tabolisme des substrats toxiques sont combin\u00e9s par transfert g\u00e9n\u00e9tique lat\u00e9ral, sujet central de ce projet. Bon nombre de ces g\u00e8nes pourront \u00eatre commercialis\u00e9s en tant que \u00ab biomarqueurs \u00bb dans le secteur consid\u00e9rable et en croissance rapide de la surveillance de la biorestauration. Le savoir acquis aura de nombreuses applications dans le secteur priv\u00e9, dont la r\u00e9paration des dommages caus\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019environnement, les nouveaux proc\u00e9d\u00e9s industriels verts, de m\u00eame que la compr\u00e9hension et la gestion des maladies infectieuses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Comment la vie a-t-ell e \u00e9volu\u00e9?
