Les canaux ioniques g\u00e9n\u00e8rent et orchestrent les signaux \u00e9lectriques qui traversent notre syst\u00e8me nerveux, le c\u0153ur et les muscles.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreux troubles neurologiques, notamment l\u2019\u00e9pilepsie, le syndrom e de Tourette, le syndrome d\u2019impatiences musculaires de l\u2019\u00e9veil et les troubles bipolaires, peuvent \u00eatre en partie attribuables \u00e0 une anomalie dans ces canaux caus\u00e9e par des mutations au niveau des g\u00e8nes qui les encodent.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome humain nous ait permis d\u2019identifier des centaines de g\u00e8nes encodant des canaux ioniques, la fonction pr\u00e9cise de la majorit\u00e9 de ces g\u00e8nes nous est toujours inconnue.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs participant \u00e0 ce projet proposent d\u2019isoler des facteurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques contribuant aux maladies susmentionn\u00e9es en cherchant les mutations dans les g\u00e8nes associ\u00e9s aux canaux ioniques. Une fois les mutations isol\u00e9es, les chercheurs d\u00e9termineront quelles maladies sont influenc\u00e9es par les diverses mutations.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsqu\u2019ils comprendront les d\u00e9terminants g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques de ces maladies, les chercheurs seront plus avanc\u00e9s dans leur diagnostic et la mise au point de th\u00e9rapies qui permettront de traiter ces troubles neurologiques. Ce projet est dirig\u00e9 par des chercheurs de l\u2019Institut de recherche de l\u2019H\u00f4pital g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Montr\u00e9al et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 McGill, en collaboration avec Emerillon Therapeutics Inc. de Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00c9SUM\u00c9 DES R\u00c9SULTATS DE CE PROJET TERMIN\u00c9 EST ACTUELLEMENT EN COURS DE PR\u00c9PARATION.
