L\u2019incidence du DT1 varie consid\u00e9rablement entre les populations. Le Canada vient au troisi\u00e8me rang des taux les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s du monde, et le DT1 repr\u00e9sente des d\u00e9penses d&rsquo;environ 13 milliards de dollars en soins de sant\u00e9, en invalidit\u00e9, en travail perdu et en d\u00e9c\u00e8s pr\u00e9matur\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Le DT1 dans l\u2019enfance \u00e9tait peu courant pendant la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XXe si\u00e8cle, mais son incidence a rapidement augment\u00e9 au cours des 50 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es en Finlande, en Angleterre, en Norv\u00e8ge, en Isra\u00ebl, en Autriche et dans plusieurs autres pays. On ne sait pas pourquoi l&rsquo;incidence du DT1 a ainsi augment\u00e9, mais c&rsquo;est en grande partie parce qu\u2019on comprend encore assez peu l\u2019\u00e9tiologie de la maladie.<\/p>\n<p>Nous voulions identifier les principaux g\u00e8nes qui cr\u00e9ent un risque de DT1 chez les humains et mieux comprendre les voies biologiques qui susc itent les premiers stades de la progression de la maladie.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats de nos analyses de rats et de souris mod\u00e8les ont servi \u00e0 dresser une liste des g\u00e8nes li\u00e9s au DT1 pour des \u00e9tudes d&rsquo;association familiales. \u00c0 partir des progr\u00e8s r\u00e9cents des plateformes de g\u00e9notypage \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit et des donn\u00e9es de la carte des haplotypes pour les humains, nous avons con\u00e7u une analyse de g\u00e9notypage pour l\u2019examen de 176 g\u00e8nes de notre liste. Les r\u00e9sultats obtenus gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 notre programme auront d\u2019importantes r\u00e9percussions sur notre compr\u00e9hension du DT1. Les marqueurs qui permettent d\u2019identifier les personnes \u00e0 risque avant que la maladie ne se d\u00e9clare se pr\u00eatent tr\u00e8s bien \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation de m\u00e9dicaments faits sur mesure.<\/p>\n<p>Surtout, les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s dans le cadre de ce projet ont \u00e9t\u00e9 essentiels \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un projet \u00e9largi de recherche sur le DT1 d\u2019une dur\u00e9e de quatre ans et d\u2019une valeur de 15 millions de dollars qui a r\u00e9cemment commenc\u00e9 avec le soutien financier de G\u00e9nome Canada\/Institut de g\u00e9nomique de l&rsquo;Ontario, les National Institutes of Health, Celera Diagnostics, Inc., plusieurs organismes europ\u00e9ens de financement, et le soutien de nos \u00e9tablissements de recherche.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On s\u2019entend unanimement pour reconna\u00eetre que le diab\u00e8te type 1 (DT1) est une maladie autoimmune complexe caus\u00e9e par de multiples facteurs de risque g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques et des facteurs environnementaux actuellement inconnus.
