Ce sont des outils puissants qui peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s pour cataloguer la biodiversit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le codage \u00e0 barres de l\u2019ADN a commenc\u00e9 au Canada et les chercheurs canadiens continuent de diriger les travaux internationaux qui ont pour objet de dresser un catalogue complet des formes de vie sur Terre. M. Paul Hebert, sp\u00e9cialiste de la biologie \u00e9volutive et directeur du Biodiversity Institute of Ontario, \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Guelph, est le directeur du projet R\u00e9seau du code \u00e0 barres canadien de la vie.Il a fallu 250 ans pour cataloguer environ 15 % de la biodiversit\u00e9 du monde.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, comme de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces sont maintenant menac\u00e9es, le projet R\u00e9seau du code \u00e0 barres canadien de la vie vise \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des biblioth\u00e8ques exhaustives des codes \u00e0 barres de l\u2019ADN de tous les oiseaux et poissons du monde, d\u2019autres animaux, des champignons, des plantes et des protistes (organismes souvent unicellulaires). L\u2019\u00e9quipe du projet veut \u00e9laborer un syst\u00e8me d\u2019identification universel \u00e0 partir de l\u2019ADN qui pourra \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour cataloguer toutes les esp\u00e8ces.<\/p>\n<p>Comme ce projet et d\u2019autres projets analogues devraient produire une foule de nouvelles donn\u00e9es, le r\u00e9seau cr\u00e9era \u00e9galement un syst\u00e8me avanc\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9tablissement de bases de donn\u00e9es pour faciliter le stockage et l\u2019analyse de fichiers de codes \u00e0 barres.On esp\u00e8re que le projet aboutira \u00e0 la mise au point d\u2019appareils portatifs de codage. Les bioprospecteurs pourront alors les utiliser pour identifier rapidement des milliers d\u2019esp\u00e8ces, ce qui pourrait aboutir \u00e0 des m\u00e9dicaments susceptibles de sauver des vies ou signaler la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019organismes animaux et v\u00e9g\u00e9taux dans les aliments m\u00eame apr\u00e8s leur transformation.
