Les ravageurs et les agents pathog\u00e8nes menacent de plus en plus les for\u00eats canadiennes, ce qui engendre des pertes annuelles d\u2019environ deux milliards de dollars. Il est indispensable de conna\u00eetre les agents infectieux et leurs origines pour \u00e9viter les dommages aux for\u00eats, mais les m\u00e9thodes actuelles reposent sur les inspections visuelles \u2013 une approche \u00e0 laquelle \u00e9chappent de nombreux agents pathog\u00e8nes transmis sans sympt\u00f4mes visibles. G\u00e9nome Canada finance des travaux de recherche qui visent \u00e0 mettre au point des tests diagnostiques bas\u00e9s sur l\u2019ADN pour identifier et surveiller les agents pathog\u00e8nes. Ces travaux cr\u00e9eront d\u2019importants avantages; ils emp\u00eacheront entre autres que des agents pathog\u00e8nes envahissants nuisent \u00e0 nos for\u00eats, ils aideront le secteur forestier et les p\u00e9pini\u00e8res \u00e0 obtenir la certification des plantes et des produits et ils procureront un avantage concurrentiel aux entreprises canadiennes sur les march\u00e9s internationaux. Ils cr\u00e9eront \u00e9galement des avantages \u00e9conomiques annuels qui se chiffreront par dizaines de millions de dollars gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la r\u00e9duction des pertes attribuables aux maladies. La vente de ces outils diagnostiques sur les march\u00e9s mondiaux offrira d\u2019importantes possibilit\u00e9s de commercialisation. L\u2019\u00e9quipe de projet entreprendra le plus grand effort de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age des agents pathog\u00e8nes des for\u00eats du monde, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 combler des lacunes dans notre compr\u00e9hension de ces menaces.<\/p>\n<p>Un volet GE<sup>3<\/sup>LS int\u00e9gr\u00e9 aidera \u00e0 mieux comprendre la commercialisation de ces outils et examinera des enjeux li\u00e9s aux politiques des pouvoirs publics et \u00e0 l\u2019acceptation sociale de l\u2019utilisation des technologies de la g\u00e9nomique dans le cadre actuel de l\u2019am\u00e9nagement forestier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prot\u00e9ger la sant\u00e9 de nos for\u00eats.
