L\u2019un des cancers les plus courants du syst\u00e8me immunitaire au Canada est le lymphome folliculaire, une maladie dans laquelle les cellules malignes ont \u00ab permut\u00e9 \u00bb ou r\u00e9arrang\u00e9 des \u00e9l\u00e9ments des chromosomes 14 et 18. Ce r\u00e9arrangement g\u00e9nomique entra\u00eene ensuite une accumulation de cellules endommag\u00e9es. Avec le temps, d\u2019autres changements g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques peuvent se produire dans les cellules du lymphome folliculaire susceptibles de causer une forme plus agressive de la maladie \u2013 le lymphome B diffus \u00e0 grandes cellules.<\/p>\n<p>Ce projet, intitul\u00e9 Analyse \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution des g\u00e9nomes des lymphomes folliculaires, vise \u00e0 \u00e9tudier ces r\u00e9arrangements en g\u00e9nomique \u00e0 l\u2019aide de techniques de pointe. Il est dirig\u00e9 par M. Marco Marra, chercheur principal du Genome Sciences Centre du BC Cancer Agency, M. Joseph Connors, professeur \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Colombie\u00adBritannique et pr\u00e9sident du groupe sur le lymphome au B.C. Cancer Agency et M. Randy Gascoyne, h\u00e9matopathologiste au BC Cancer Agency, le repr\u00e9sentant canadien de l\u2019International Lymphoma Study Group.<\/p>\n<p>Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce projet, un groupe utilisera ces technologies pour \u00e9tablir le profil des g\u00e9nomes d\u2019un cancer humain, selon M. Marra. L\u2019\u00e9quipe de projet entreprendra l\u2019analyse \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution des g\u00e9nomes de 24 lymphomes, dont l\u2019\u00e9tude d\u00e9taill\u00e9e des \u00e9l\u00e9ments r\u00e9arrang\u00e9s des chromosomes 14 et 18 pour d\u00e9terminer la structure chimique r\u00e9elle de l\u2019ADN r\u00e9arrang\u00e9. Therefore, Carlo Marra at UBC will analyze the benefits, risks, and costs of the techniques developed. This health technology assessment will determine the potential societal, social, and economic impact of a test to identify follicular lymphoma and\/or its progression to large B-cell lymphoma.
