Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude de la fonction de g\u00e8nes semblables dans des organismes moins complexes, nous pourrons mieux comprendre le fonctionnement de ces g\u00e8nes dans notre propre g\u00e9nome, bien plus complexe. \u00c0 cette fin, les chercheurs se concentrent sur le<em> C. elegans<\/em> \u2013 le premier organisme complexe pour lequel le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age g\u00e9n\u00e9tique est complet \u2013 pour mieux comprendre comment les g\u00e8nes et leurs produits agissent sur les cellules, les tissus et les organes en d\u00e9veloppement. Pour d\u00e9terminer le profil d\u2019expression des cellules et des tissus de cet organisme, les chercheurs utilisent diverses m\u00e9thodes dont l\u2019analyse s\u00e9quentielle de l\u2019expression des g\u00e8nes (SAGE) sur des populations cellulaires tri\u00e9es par FAC, et l\u2019analyse d\u2019images en 4\u00ad-D et deux canaux du promoteur de g\u00e8ne : des g\u00e8nes hybrides de la prot\u00e9ine GFP dans des sp\u00e9cimens vivants.
