En&nbsp;2003-2004, des progr\u00e8s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faits en recherche sur le d\u00e9veloppement et la composition des graines, mais aussi sur les plans des collaborations, des communications et de la sensibilisation gr\u00e2ce aux efforts conjugu\u00e9s de 67 chercheurs d\u2019Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada et du Conseil national de recherches. De ce nombre, 41 chercheurs \u00e9taient financ\u00e9s par le projet.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs ont fait la d\u00e9monstration de prototypes de canola plus vigoureux, \u00e0 plus forte teneur en huile et \u00e0 \u00e9l\u00e9ments antinutritionnels moindres dans le tourteau. Leurs travaux demeureront en outre utiles pour les \u00e9tudes scientifiques futures et acc\u00e9l\u00e9reront les progr\u00e8s dans l\u2019am\u00e9lioration du canola, car plus de 250&nbsp;000&nbsp;\u00e9tiquettes de s\u00e9quence transcrite (EST) \u00e0 divers stades de d\u00e9veloppement de la plante seront mises \u00e0 la disposition des chercheurs par l\u2019entremise de la GenBank. De plus, l\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche a mis au point, \u00e0 partir de la graine, une micropuce contenant environ 10&nbsp;000&nbsp;g\u00e8nes uniques que tous les chercheurs canadiens peuvent utiliser. Cette ressource a permis d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer et de mieux cibler les activit\u00e9s de s\u00e9lection.<\/p>\n<p>En ce qui concerne le d\u00e9veloppement des graines, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a construit au total 27&nbsp;banques d\u2019ADN compl\u00e9mentaire repr\u00e9sentant diff\u00e9rents stades de d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019embryon\/de la graine. Elle a \u00e9galement s\u00e9quenc\u00e9 plus de 40&nbsp;000&nbsp;EST de ces banques. Elle a en outre identifi\u00e9 environ 10&nbsp;000&nbsp;g\u00e8nes uniques qu\u2019elle a utilis\u00e9s pour pr\u00e9parer une micropuce d\u2019ADN du genre <em>Brassica<\/em>, un outil g\u00e9nomique important qui servira \u00e0 approfondir notre compr\u00e9hension du d\u00e9veloppement des graines. Ces g\u00e8nes font maintenant l\u2019objet d\u2019une \u00e9tude plus approfondie.<\/p>\n<p>En ce qui concerne la composition des graines, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a identifi\u00e9 17 g\u00e8nes exprim\u00e9s de la crucif\u00e9rine et d\u00e9termin\u00e9 l\u2019abondance de leur transcription. Des strat\u00e9gies sont \u00e0 l\u2019essai pour adapter des graines qui produisent des prot\u00e9ines de plus grande importance \u00e9conomique ou fonctionnelle. L\u2019\u00e9quipe a identifi\u00e9 des lign\u00e9es mutantes d\u2019<em>Arabidopsis<\/em> poss\u00e9dant moins de phytate, de sinapine et de lignine. Les g\u00e8nes qui contr\u00f4lent ces antinutriments sont \u00e9tudi\u00e9s pour les utiliser dans les graines de <em>Brassica<\/em> afin de r\u00e9duire le niveau d\u2019antinutriments et am\u00e9liorer ainsi la qualit\u00e9 et la valeur marchande du tourteau de canola.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00e9sultats remarquables&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s utile pour pr\u00e9ciser des traits g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques sp\u00e9cifiques dans le canola, par exemple la teneur en huile, la taille des graines, les niveaux d\u2019antinutriments et l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 d\u2019utilisation de l\u2019azote.<\/li>\n<li>Le projet a vers\u00e9 250&nbsp;000&nbsp;EST \u00e0 la GenBank, dix fois plus que l\u2019objectif initial de 25&nbsp;000.
