Des interventions inefficaces en sant\u00e9 publique peuvent donner lieu \u00e0 des \u00e9closions qui propagent les maladies comme le virus Zika et les maladies d\u2019origine alimentaire, ce qui peut avoir d\u2019\u00e9normes cons\u00e9quences sur la sant\u00e9 et des co\u00fbts \u00e9conomiques \u00e9lev\u00e9s. Le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age de l\u2019ADN fournit l\u2019\u00ab\u00a0empreinte\u00a0\u00bb compl\u00e8te d\u2019un microbe, ce qui permet un suivi sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent de la propagation des maladies infectieuses. Lorsque les \u00e9closions prennent une ampleur mondiale toutefois (il suffit de penser au SRAS ou aux microbes r\u00e9sistant aux antimicrobiens), il faut partager les donn\u00e9es en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et avec efficacit\u00e9 entre les organismes de sant\u00e9 publique. Malheureusement, les donn\u00e9es sont souvent gard\u00e9es dans des formats particuliers aux \u00e9tablissements, ce qui rend ces partages difficiles, co\u00fbteux et chronophages.<\/p>\n<p>William Hsiao, Ph.\u00a0D.
