Des mutations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques particuli\u00e8res dans la tumeur d\u2019un patient peuvent d\u00e9terminer quel m\u00e9dicament lui sera le plus efficace. Comme on conna\u00eet maintenant de nouvelles mutations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques qui peuvent \u00eatre cibl\u00e9es, il est plus important que jamais de pouvoir mener une analyse g\u00e9n\u00e9tique des \u00e9chantillons des patients.<\/p>\n<p>Dr David Stewart, de l\u2019H\u00f4pital d\u2019Ottawa et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Ottawa, travaille en collaboration avec l\u2019Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association\u00a0(EORLA) \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019un test capable de d\u00e9celer avec exactitude les mutations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques importantes dans de tr\u00e8s petits \u00e9chantillons de biopsie qu\u2019il est possible de se procurer en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la plupart des patients atteints d\u2019un cancer du poumon avanc\u00e9. Les tests v\u00e9rifieront simultan\u00e9ment des variations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques multiples pour fournir un r\u00e9sultat plus rapidement qu\u2019il n\u2019est possible actuellement de le faire avec les strat\u00e9gies de tests s\u00e9quentiels.<\/p>\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la rapidit\u00e9 avec laquelle les m\u00e9decins obtiendront l\u2019information, les patients pourront recevoir les traitements qui leur conviennent le mieux. Les avantages financiers sont \u00e9galement consid\u00e9rables. Si ce nouveau test est mis en \u0153uvre au pays, il pourrait entra\u00eener des \u00e9conomies de 35,9\u00a0millions de dollars en co\u00fbts de tests et de 151,4\u00a0millions de dollars en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral en raison de l\u2019\u00e9limination des traitements inefficaces.
