Ces cellules uniques repr\u00e9sentent un sujet de recherche d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat dans les domaines du cancer, du d\u00e9veloppement, des traitements par cellules souches et de la neurobiologie. \u00c0 la diff\u00e9rence des \u00e9tudes de g\u00e9nomique, qui ne peuvent d\u00e9crire que le comportement moyen d\u2019un nombre \u00e9norme de cellules, les analyses de cellules uniques permettent aux chercheurs de comprendre les variations qui existent d\u2019une cellule \u00e0 l\u2019autre et d\u2019\u00e9tudier des cellules pr\u00e9cises qui sont responsables de la progression des maladies. Cependant, il n\u2019existe \u00e0 l\u2019heure actuelle aucune technologie polyvalente efficace et non effractive qui permet d\u2019identifier et de pr\u00e9lever de telles cellules.<\/p>\n<p>Santiago\u00a0Costantino, Ph.\u00a0D., affili\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019H\u00f4pital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, travaille actuellement \u00e0 la mise au point d\u2019une m\u00e9thode de marquage instantan\u00e9 et sp\u00e9cifique des cellules vivantes au moyen d\u2019un appareil utilis\u00e9 en imagerie. L\u2019approche d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e avec son \u00e9quipe permet de marquer les cellules avec un laser, en se basant sur une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de crit\u00e8res choisis par le chercheur au moment de l\u2019observation. Comme le marquage laser persiste pendant des jours, les cellules ainsi marqu\u00e9es peuvent \u00eatre suivies, pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es et analys\u00e9es s\u00e9par\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n<p>Cette approche, simple et peu co\u00fbteuse, peut facilement \u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 des technologies de pointe dans le domaine de la g\u00e9nomique cellule par cellule. Cette nouvelle technologie ouvre donc la voie \u00e0 un large \u00e9ventail d\u2019exp\u00e9riences. Elle pourrait notamment servir \u00e0 analyser l\u2019expression g\u00e9nique de cellules choisies en fonction de leur rapidit\u00e9 de d\u00e9placement, des \u00e9l\u00e9ments avec lesquels elles viennent en contact ou encore de leur distance par rapport \u00e0 un point pr\u00e9cis (p.\u00a0ex. l\u2019interface entre une cellule tumorale et une cellule normale).
