Ce processus d\u2019accumulation comporte un \u00e9l\u00e9ment al\u00e9atoire, ce qui veut dire que certaines cellules tumorales peuvent acqu\u00e9rir des mutations diff\u00e9rentes, et par cons\u00e9quent r\u00e9agir diff\u00e9remment \u00e0 la th\u00e9rapie ou acqu\u00e9rir des capacit\u00e9s diff\u00e9rentes d\u2019envahir et de se propager. On tient rarement compte de la diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique dans les tumeurs dans les protocoles de traitement, mais elle contribue n\u00e9anmoins \u00e0 la r\u00e9sistance aux m\u00e9dicaments, de m\u00eame qu\u2019\u00e0 la propagation et \u00e0 la progression de la maladie.<\/p>\n<p>Des perc\u00e9es r\u00e9centes dans la technologie de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age g\u00e9n\u00e9tique ont permis aux chercheurs de d\u00e9coder avec pr\u00e9cision les g\u00e9nomes de cellules tumorales individuelles. L\u2019application des donn\u00e9es de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de la cellule unique pour mieux comprendre l\u2019\u00e9volution des tumeurs et acqu\u00e9rir des connaissances qui m\u00e8neront \u00e0 des mesures en milieu clinique exige \u00e0 la fois des m\u00e9thodes informatiques d\u2019analyse des donn\u00e9es et des logiciels qui montreront leurs donn\u00e9es aux chercheurs. M\u00eame si les m\u00e9thodes informatiques sont sans cesse perfectionn\u00e9es, il n\u2019existe aucun outil pour visualiser efficacement les millions de g\u00e9nomes qui existent dans une seule tumeur.<\/p>\n<p>Sohrab Shah, Ph.\u00a0D., de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Colombie-Britannique dirige une \u00e9quipe qui r\u00e9soudra ce goulet d\u2019\u00e9tranglement dans l\u2019analyse en proposant une technologie de moteur de recherche hautement \u00e9volutive, appel\u00e9 Elasticsearch, dans le domaine de la g\u00e9nomique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de la cellule unique. L\u2019\u00e9quipe \u00e9valuera pour la premi\u00e8re fois la capacit\u00e9 d\u2019Elasticsearch de mener en temps r\u00e9el une exploration visuelle interactive des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9nomiques d\u2019une seule cellule canc\u00e9reuse. Cette technologie aura des effets imm\u00e9diats dans la communaut\u00e9 internationale des chercheurs sur le cancer parce qu\u2019elle acc\u00e9l\u00e9rera l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation et la d\u00e9couverte des donn\u00e9es et donnera une id\u00e9e de la composition et de la dynamique des tumeurs.
