Actuellement, le diagnostic pr\u00e9natal d\u2019anomalies g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques consiste en analyses sanguines de la m\u00e8re et en \u00e9chographies suivies de tests diagnostiques sur des cellules f\u0153tales (par l\u2019amniocent\u00e8se ou une intervention chirurgicale vaginale) pour les grossesses consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme des grossesses \u00e0 risque \u00e9lev\u00e9. Ces interventions comportent un risque de fausse couche, exigent un personnel m\u00e9dical exp\u00e9riment\u00e9, sont tr\u00e8s co\u00fbteuses et ne donnent des r\u00e9sultats qu\u2019\u00e0 un stade avanc\u00e9 de la grossesse. Il faut de toute \u00e9vidence des techniques diagnostiques pr\u00e9natales moins invasives et moins co\u00fbteuses qui peuvent fournir des renseignements pertinents aux premiers stades de la grossesse.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019H\u00f4pital du Mont-Sina\u00ef&nbsp;(MSH) \u00e0 Toronto poss\u00e8de le centre de diagnostic pr\u00e9natal le plus important au Canada et l\u2019un des plus grands en Am\u00e9rique du Nord. Des chercheurs et des m\u00e9decins de MSH ont mis au point une m\u00e9thode de collecte et d\u2019isolement des cellules f\u0153tales de mani\u00e8re non invasive au moyen d\u2019une technique qui ressemble \u00e0 un test PAP courant. Maintenant, les ing\u00e9nieurs et les chimistes du groupe de recherche du Dr Aaron Wheeler \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Toronto font \u00e9quipe avec des experts de l\u2019analyse g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et du diagnostic pr\u00e9natal pour mettre au point des techniques qui isoleront et permettront d\u2019analyser ces cellules de mani\u00e8re rapide et reproductible pour porter un diagnostic pr\u00e9natal d\u2019anomalies g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques.<\/p>\n<p>Si elles fonctionnent, ces techniques pourraient enti\u00e8rement transformer l\u2019\u00e9tablissement du diagnostic pr\u00e9natal et remplacer par des diagnostics s\u00fbrs, peu co\u00fbteux et non invasifs d\u00e8s les cinq premi\u00e8res semaines de la grossesse, les diagnostics co\u00fbteux, invasifs et risqu\u00e9s dont les r\u00e9sultats ne sont connus qu\u2019apr\u00e8s 12 \u00e0 15&nbsp;semaines de grossesse. Il en r\u00e9sultera une couverture \u00e9largie de la population, une diminution de l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 chez les patientes, de meilleures options m\u00e9dicales pour les grossesses \u00e0 risque, de m\u00eame que des r\u00e9ductions importantes des co\u00fbts pour les soins de sant\u00e9.
