Toute personne est capable de fabriquer une immense vari\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019anticorps diff\u00e9rents, en r\u00e9action \u00e0 des agents \u00e9trangers et \u00e0 des pathog\u00e8nes, entre autres les virus et les bact\u00e9ries. Tout comme une cl\u00e9 n\u2019ouvre qu\u2019une seule serrure, le corps choisit chaque anticorps en fonction de sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 se lier \u00e0 une mol\u00e9cule cible sp\u00e9cifique. C\u2019est cette sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 et la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 relayer diverses r\u00e9actions immunitaires qui permettent aux anticorps d\u2019agir avec pr\u00e9cision et efficacit\u00e9. Ce sont les m\u00eames propri\u00e9t\u00e9s qui rendent les anticorps tr\u00e8s efficaces lorsqu\u2019ils sont utilis\u00e9s dans des th\u00e9rapies cibl\u00e9es. Toutefois, il est tr\u00e8s difficile de mettre au point ces \u00ab\u00a0m\u00e9dicaments de pr\u00e9cision\u00a0\u00bb parce qu\u2019il faut choisir les meilleurs anticorps parmi les nombreux milliards d\u2019anticorps produits dans tout animal\u00a0: la proverbiale aiguille dans la botte de foin. Les m\u00e9thodes utilis\u00e9es actuellement pour r\u00e9soudre ce probl\u00e8me n\u00e9cessitent la culture des cellules qui produisent les anticorps. Cette m\u00e9thode est extr\u00eamement inefficace, ne permet d\u2019\u00e9chantillonner que moins de 0,001\u00a0% de tous les anticorps, elle co\u00fbte cher et n\u00e9cessite beaucoup de temps.<\/p>\n<p>M.\u00a0Carl Hansen, Ph.\u00a0D., et son \u00e9quipe de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Colombie-Britannique concevront et produiront une technologie de rupture qui permet de mesurer et d\u2019isoler des anticorps directement dans des cellules individuelles du syst\u00e8me immunitaire et qui est capable de cribler des millions de cellules en une seule journ\u00e9e. L\u2019\u00e9quipe utilisera cette technologie pour \u00e9tablir des capacit\u00e9s de pointe pour trouver de nouveaux anticorps qui peuvent \u00eatre transform\u00e9s en produits th\u00e9rapeutiques, ce qui multipliera par plus de 100\u00a0la rapidit\u00e9 des m\u00e9thodes traditionnelles. En plus de la d\u00e9couverte d\u2019anticorps, cette plateforme fournira de nouvelles capacit\u00e9s de surveillance des syst\u00e8mes immunitaires et aura des applications pour les diagnostics et la mise au point de nouveaux vaccins.
