Elles sont efficaces chez certains patients, mais inefficaces chez d\u2019autres patients, par contre, et m\u00eame si elles donnent de bons r\u00e9sultats, les immunoth\u00e9rapies peuvent s\u2019accompagner de graves effets toxiques, parfois mortels. Les immunoth\u00e9rapies les plus prometteuses sont bas\u00e9es sur les lymphocytes\u00a0T, des cellules du syst\u00e8me immunitaire, en particulier des lymphocytes T modifi\u00e9s appel\u00e9s chimeric antigen receptor T-cells (CAR T-cells) qui s\u2019av\u00e8rent tr\u00e8s efficaces dans le traitement des cancers terminaux, mais qui peuvent aussi avoir des effets toxiques mortels importants.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Bramson, Ph. D., de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 McMaster, travaille avec Triumvira, une jeune soci\u00e9t\u00e9 canadienne de biotechonologie, au perfectionnement de la plateforme de fabrication de lymphocytes\u00a0T de cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9, le T-Cell Antigen Coupler (TAC) (coupleur d\u2019antig\u00e8nes de lymphocytes T). La plateforme a d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 une efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9quivalente ou sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 d\u2019autres plateformes de CAR et une innocuit\u00e9 encore plus grande. La plateforme de TAC est, par contre, limit\u00e9e principalement par l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des nouveaux domaines de liaison. Le financement de G\u00e9nome Canada servira \u00e0 valider les r\u00e9cepteurs de TAC porteurs de nouveaux domaines de liaison mis au point dans le laboratoire de M.\u00a0Bramson au Centre for Commercialization of Antibodies and Biologics. Triumvira commercialisera ensuite les domaines fructueux en collaboration avec des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s pharmaceutiques.<\/p>\n<p>Le principal avantage pour le Canada \u00e0 court terme en sera de nouveaux emplois et de nouveaux investissements en capital.
