D., de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Saskatchewan donnent \u00e0 penser qu\u2019une partie du probl\u00e8me vient du fait que l\u2019industrie de la biotechnologie agricole s\u2019est beaucoup trop concentr\u00e9e sur l\u2019innovation technologique, n\u00e9gligeant l\u2019importance de comprendre les besoins des consommateurs. Les cultures GM de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, toutefois au lieu d\u2019\u00eatre ax\u00e9es sur les avantages pour le producteur, tels qu\u2019un rendement am\u00e9lior\u00e9 ou la r\u00e9sistance aux ravageurs, sont ax\u00e9es sur la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019avantages pour les consommateurs, par exemple une meilleure nutrition, un meilleur go\u00fbt et la durabilit\u00e9 environnementale.<\/p>\n<p>La pr\u00e9sente \u00e9tude, une suite aux travaux de M.\u00a0Zhang, examine comment les consommateurs canadiens acqui\u00e8rent leurs attitudes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard des aliments GM et comment ces attitudes pourraient changer si ces aliments \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s du point de vue des am\u00e9liorations pour les consommateurs. Cette \u00e9tude examinera \u00e9galement la volont\u00e9 des consommateurs d\u2019accepter ces aliments GM de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et de payer plus cher pour ces produits. Une volont\u00e9 manifeste de payer plus cher des aliments GM de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pourrait encourager les entreprises de biotechnologie agricole \u00e0 porter leur attention sur les consommateurs plut\u00f4t que les producteurs, ce qui pourrait influencer favorablement l\u2019industrie, le secteur agricole en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral et le public.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tude aidera \u00e0 mieux comprendre non pas les attitudes des consommateurs, qui ont beaucoup \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9es, mais la fa\u00e7on dont ces attitudes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9es et dans quelles circonstances elles peuvent changer.
