Cette maladie d\u00e9bilitante cause des difficult\u00e9s \u00e0 respirer, des infections pulmonaires r\u00e9currentes et des troubles digestifs avant que les personnes qui en sont atteintes en meurent, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge m\u00e9dian de 35\u00a0ans au Canada. Les traitements actuels peuvent att\u00e9nuer les sympt\u00f4mes de la maladie, mais elle demeure incurable. Les nouveaux m\u00e9dicaments peuvent s\u2019attaquer au d\u00e9faut g\u00e9n\u00e9tique sous-jacent de la fibrose kystique, mais seulement quelques patients y r\u00e9pondent favorablement, tandis que d\u2019autres y restent insensibles et il n\u2019y a aucun moyen pour les cliniciens de savoir d\u2019avance dans quelle cat\u00e9gorie un patient se situera. Compte tenu des effets ind\u00e9sirables de ces m\u00e9dicaments et de leur co\u00fbt (plus de 300\u00a0000\u00a0$ par ann\u00e9e par patient pour un m\u00e9dicament qui doit \u00eatre administr\u00e9 toute la vie), il est urgent de trouver des variables explicatives solides qui montreront quels patients r\u00e9agiront \u00e0 quel traitement.<\/p>\n<p>Le D<sup>r<\/sup>\u00a0Felix Ratjen de l\u2019Hospital for Sick Children et son \u00e9quipe mettent au point des outils pr\u00e9dictifs qui aideront les cliniciens \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer le bon m\u00e9dicament pour le bon patient. L\u2019\u00e9quipe examinera comment les facteurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques, qui peuvent \u00eatre \u00e9valu\u00e9s par un test sanguin non invasif, peuvent aider \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir les r\u00e9actions individuelles au traitement. Elle \u00e9tudiera \u00e9galement si les essais de m\u00e9dicaments sur des \u00e9chantillons de tissus provenant des patients peuvent servir \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer la r\u00e9action clinique possible aux m\u00e9dicaments chez chacun des patients. Elle travaillera avec des partenaires sectoriels, des organisations de patients et le minist\u00e8re de la Sant\u00e9 et des Soins de longue dur\u00e9e de l\u2019Ontario pour int\u00e9grer ces strat\u00e9gies aux soins des patients, une fois leur efficacit\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats du travail de l\u2019\u00e9quipe constitueront un changement de paradigme qui m\u00e8nera au traitement individualis\u00e9 de la fibrose kystique, au soutien des cliniciens appel\u00e9s \u00e0 d\u00e9cider des traitements \u00e0 privil\u00e9gier, \u00e0 l\u2019orientation des d\u00e9cideurs sur le remboursement des soins les plus \u00e9conomiques et \u00e0 de meilleurs r\u00e9sultats de sant\u00e9 pour les patients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La fibrose kystique est la maladie g\u00e9n\u00e9tique mortelle la plus fr\u00e9quente; elle touche 4\u00a0000\u00a0Canadiennes et Canadiens et 80\u00a0000\u00a0personnes dans le monde.
