Une seule solution n\u2019inversera pas cette tendance et ne redynamisera pas le pipeline de d\u00e9couverte d\u2019agents antimicrobiens. Il est donc devenu prioritaire, partout dans le monde, de mieux comprendre les g\u00e8nes qui rendent les bact\u00e9ries r\u00e9sistantes et leur mode de propagation. Le partage des g\u00e8nes de r\u00e9sistance entre les bact\u00e9ries pathog\u00e8nes est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de la transmission de la r\u00e9sistance. Les bact\u00e9ries r\u00e9sistantes se d\u00e9placent \u00e9galement entre les habitats, par exemple le sol agricole et les animaux de ferme, mais il faut mieux comprendre les principaux points de transmission pour d\u00e9finir les priorit\u00e9s dans les activit\u00e9s de surveillance et la r\u00e9glementation.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Beiko, Ph. D., de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Dalhousie et Fiona Brinkman, Ph. D., de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Simon Fraser dirigent une grande \u00e9quipe compos\u00e9e de partenaires universitaires et gouvernementaux qui s\u2019efforcent de d\u00e9terminer quels g\u00e8nes sont partag\u00e9s, quelles bact\u00e9ries partagent les g\u00e8nes et le mode de d\u00e9placement des bact\u00e9ries entre les habitats. L\u2019\u00e9quipe met au point des algorithmes et des logiciels de bio-informatique qui transformeront la mani\u00e8re d\u2019examiner la r\u00e9sistance antimicrobienne (RAM) qui ne sera plus un \u00ab instantan\u00e9 statique \u00bb, mais une vue dynamique de la transmission de la RAM. Elle validera ses outils en utilisant des milliers de g\u00e9nomes de la salmonelle, de l\u2019E. coli et d\u2019autres bact\u00e9ries pathog\u00e8nes recueillis par les partenaires de l\u2019Agence de la sant\u00e9 publique du Canada et d\u2019Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada.
