Elle aide \u00e0 \u00e9valuer les r\u00e9percussions de la mise en valeur des ressources, mais \u00e9galement \u00e0 identifier rapidement et \u00e0 peu de frais les insectes ravageurs, les esp\u00e8ces envahissantes et les agents pathog\u00e8nes. Elle est essentielle \u00e0 la croissance \u00e9conomique du Canada dans les secteurs de la foresterie, de l\u2019agriculture et des p\u00eaches, de m\u00eame qu\u2019\u00e0 la prise de d\u00e9cisions en sant\u00e9 publique. Les m\u00e9thodes g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques de surveillance de la biodiversit\u00e9, par exemple le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age \u00e0 haut rendement, sont maintenant largement adopt\u00e9es, mais la bio-informatique n\u2019a pas suivi le rythme des donn\u00e9es produites. De plus, les m\u00e9thodes actuelles sont ax\u00e9es sur les bact\u00e9ries et les organismes semblables et non sur les plantes multicellulaires et les animaux qu\u2019il faut \u00e9galement surveiller.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Adamowicz, Ph. D., et Paul Hebert, Ph. D., de m\u00eame que d\u2019autres coll\u00e8gues de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Guelph, cr\u00e9ent de nouveaux outils bio-informatiques qui faciliteront le traitement rapide et exact des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques d\u00e9coulant du s\u00e9quen\u00e7age \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit. Ces outils permettront d\u2019analyser en m\u00eame temps des \u00e9chantillons globaux constitu\u00e9s de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces diff\u00e9rentes. Ils comprendront un outil qui \u00e9liminera le bruit pour d\u00e9tecter les erreurs; une m\u00e9thode pour regrouper les s\u00e9quences g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques en unit\u00e9s semblables aux esp\u00e8ces afin de permettre l\u2019analyse de la biodiversit\u00e9; et une m\u00e9thode d\u2019attribution des donn\u00e9es de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age \u00e0 des cat\u00e9gories taxonomiques sup\u00e9rieures pour mettre au jour l\u2019information biologique fonctionnelle.
