Ce march\u00e9 est \u00e9galement unique, puisque la production laiti\u00e8re canadienne est r\u00e9gie par un syst\u00e8me de quotas et soutenue par plus de 13 000 fermes, familiales pour la plupart. L\u2019optimisation de la productivit\u00e9, la maximisation des ressources et la limitation des d\u00e9penses sont directement associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la rentabilit\u00e9 des fermes. Diverses innovations, comme la s\u00e9lection g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, des efforts de gestion accrus et un contr\u00f4le des variables touchant la production, ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 maximiser la rentabilit\u00e9 au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Depuis 40 ans, on recueille des donn\u00e9es de production, comme la quantit\u00e9 de lait produite, les composants du lait, les caract\u00e9ristiques des animaux et les conditions d\u2019\u00e9levage, mais ces donn\u00e9es n\u2019ont jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9gr\u00e9es aux donn\u00e9es g\u00e9nomiques.<\/p>\n<p>Abdoulaye Banir\u00e9 Diallo de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et Marc-Andr\u00e9 Sirard de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Laval s\u2019affairent \u00e0 \u00e9laborer des outils qui permettront une telle int\u00e9gration, stimulant la mise au point de nouvelles pratiques d\u2019\u00e9levage et fournissant une estimation individuelle pr\u00e9cise de la productivit\u00e9 \u00e0 vie des vaches. Leurs trousses d\u2019outils d\u2019exploration de donn\u00e9es et d\u2019apprentissage machine produiront des mod\u00e8les de pr\u00e9vision de la production laiti\u00e8re qui influeront sur les pratiques d\u2019\u00e9levage et optimiseront la rentabilit\u00e9 des fermes laiti\u00e8res. Le projet profite des avanc\u00e9es en g\u00e9nomique qui permettent d\u2019\u00e9tablir un profil g\u00e9n\u00e9tique d\u00e9taill\u00e9 de chaque vache laiti\u00e8re, \u00e0 un co\u00fbt relativement bas, optimisant les d\u00e9cisions en mati\u00e8re d\u2019alimentation, de reproduction, de traitement et de soins. Les r\u00e9sultats seront applicables \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble des fermes du Canada. Le projet sera aussi un tremplin vers l\u2019inclusion de nouveaux caract\u00e8res de s\u00e9lection aux programmes de reproduction, comme la r\u00e9ponse aux diverses conditions d\u2019h\u00e9bergement, la croissance des g\u00e9nisses et l\u2019adaptation aux syst\u00e8mes de traite robotis\u00e9s.
