Pour jouer leur r\u00f4le, les cellules doivent organiser leurs composants internes de fa\u00e7on tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cise. Lorsque cette organisation est d\u00e9fectueuse, nous devenons vuln\u00e9rables \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes maladies, comme des troubles neuromusculaires ou le cancer.<\/p>\n<p>La cellule dirige ses composants au bon endroit en se servant d\u2019un syst\u00e8me d\u2019adressage complexe qui ressemble au syst\u00e8me de codes postaux assurant l\u2019acheminement de notre courrier vers la bonne destination. Les travaux d\u2019\u00c9ric L\u00e9cuyer et de son \u00e9quipe ont pour but d\u2019am\u00e9liorer notre compr\u00e9hension du fonctionnement de ce syst\u00e8me en mettant l\u2019accent sur l\u2019ARN. Au cours de la premi\u00e8re phase du concours Innovation de rupture en g\u00e9nomique de G\u00e9nome Canada, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a con\u00e7u des m\u00e9thodes d\u2019identification des \u00ab\u2009codes postaux\u2009\u00bb qui sont pr\u00e9sents dans diff\u00e9rents types de mol\u00e9cules d\u2019ARN, ce qui aide au transport de l\u2019ARN vers des endroits pr\u00e9cis de la cellule. L\u2019\u00e9quipe pr\u00e9voit maintenant utiliser ces codes postaux pour diriger des m\u00e9dicaments vers des destinations pr\u00e9cises \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur des cellules. Le projet permettra d\u2019obtenir un prototype exclusif de plateforme de d\u00e9couverte de codes postaux, une collection de codes postaux d\u2019ARN brevetables qui permettra un meilleur ciblage des m\u00e9dicaments \u00e0 base d\u2019acide nucl\u00e9ique, des vaccins \u00e0 base d\u2019ARN et des syst\u00e8mes d\u2019\u00e9dition de l\u2019ARN, comme le syst\u00e8me CRISPR.<\/p>\n<p>En am\u00e9liorant la distribution des mol\u00e9cules th\u00e9rapeutiques \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle infracellulaire, ce projet acc\u00e9l\u00e9rera la mise au point de m\u00e9dicaments destin\u00e9s au traitement de maladies aujourd\u2019hui incurables, telles que la dystrophie myotonique de type 1.
