En 2015, le secteur laitier a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 hauteur d\u2019environ 19,9 milliards de dollars au produit int\u00e9rieur brut (PIB) canadien. Le but de ce projet est d\u2019utiliser des outils g\u00e9nomiques pour \u00e9laborer de nouveaux ensembles de donn\u00e9es et outils g\u00e9nomiques afin d\u2019obtenir une vache plus \u00ab r\u00e9siliente \u00bb, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire un animal capable de s\u2019adapter rapidement \u00e0 des conditions environnementales changeantes sans que sa productivit\u00e9, sa sant\u00e9 ou sa fertilit\u00e9 soient compromises. Un ensemble de nouveaux outils de s\u00e9lection g\u00e9nomiques destin\u00e9s aux producteurs laitiers et \u00e0 l\u2019industrie de l\u2019ins\u00e9mination artificielle sera mis en \u0153uvre en fonction d\u2019un nouvel indice de s\u00e9lection pour la r\u00e9silience, qui comprendra de nouveaux caract\u00e8res g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la fertilit\u00e9, \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et \u00e0 l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 environnementale (c.-\u00e0-d. efficacit\u00e9 alimentaire et \u00e9missions de m\u00e9thane). Ce nouvel indice permettra aux producteurs de r\u00e9duire les co\u00fbts associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la mauvaise fertilit\u00e9, aux maladies et \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation des animaux.
