Les m\u00e9thodes classiques de s\u00e9lection des plantes et d\u2019\u00e9levage du b\u00e9tail ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 bon nombre des produits alimentaires que nous affectionnons aujourd\u2019hui. De r\u00e9cents progr\u00e8s en biotechnologie nous permettent de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des enjeux agricoles qu\u2019il \u00e9tait inconcevable de r\u00e9soudre avec les technologies g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques standard. L\u2019une de ces avanc\u00e9es est le d\u00e9veloppement des technologies d\u2019\u00e9dition du g\u00e9nome, qui peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es pour am\u00e9liorer le bien-\u00eatre des animaux d\u2019\u00e9levage, ce dont pourraient tirer parti les agriculteurs et bien d\u2019autres. Toutefois, les gens ont \u00e9galement exprim\u00e9 des craintes quant \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation de la biotechnologie dans la production alimentaire. Cette pr\u00e9occupation, ainsi que les contraintes li\u00e9es \u00e0 la cha\u00eene d\u2019approvisionnement, peuvent mener \u00e0 une r\u00e9ticence \u00e0 l\u2019adoption de ces technologies de la part des producteurs, des transformateurs, des d\u00e9taillants, des services alimentaires et d\u2019autres intervenants de la cha\u00eene d\u2019approvisionnement.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019introduction d\u2019aliments g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9s a \u00e9t\u00e9 accueillie dans une large mesure avec m\u00e9fiance et scepticisme. S\u2019impose donc la question suivante\u00a0: quels facteurs influent sur l\u2019acceptation de ces technologies par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9? Le but premier de ce projet de recherche est de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 cette question, en mettant l\u2019accent sur les technologies d\u2019\u00e9dition du g\u00e9nome susceptibles d\u2019am\u00e9liorer le bien-\u00eatre des animaux telles qu\u2019elles sont appliqu\u00e9es aux vaches laiti\u00e8res et aux bovins. Notre projet se concentrera sur ces technologies particuli\u00e8res, mais l\u2019objectif plus large est de mieux comprendre la fa\u00e7on dont les nouvelles technologies d\u2019\u00e9dition g\u00e9nomique sont \u00e0 m\u00eame d\u2019\u00eatre per\u00e7ues.<\/p>\n<p>La recherche propos\u00e9e sera ax\u00e9e sur la compr\u00e9hension de la perception, de la confiance et de l\u2019adoption chez tous les groupes int\u00e9ress\u00e9s, des agriculteurs aux consommateurs. Les avantages potentiels de ce projet sont aussi diversifi\u00e9s que les intervenants concern\u00e9s. Une meilleure compr\u00e9hension des perceptions \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard des technologies d\u2019\u00e9dition g\u00e9nomique pourrait permettre des efforts de communication am\u00e9lior\u00e9s et peut-\u00eatre une confiance accrue envers le syst\u00e8me alimentaire.
