Un des obstacles actuels \u00e0 la croissance et au d\u00e9veloppement est le temps n\u00e9cessaire pour r\u00e9aliser les \u00e9valuations environnementales, lesquelles d\u00e9passent souvent cinq ans, ce qui augmente \u00e0 la fois les co\u00fbts et les risques commerciaux associ\u00e9s aux nouveaux projets. Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador (PRNL) met en relation les grandes compagnies p\u00e9troli\u00e8res et gazi\u00e8res avec les tendances et les initiatives en mati\u00e8re de recherche. PRNL a identifi\u00e9 la g\u00e9nomique comme un domaine de recherche cl\u00e9 pr\u00e9sentant un large potentiel d\u2019applications dans l\u2019industrie du p\u00e9trole et du gaz et jouera un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 en guidant et conseillant d\u2019autres participants du projet afin de s\u2019assurer que les besoins de l\u2019industrie sont satisfaits. Gr\u00e2ce au soutien des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s p\u00e9troli\u00e8res et gazi\u00e8res membres du PRNL, le centre eDNAtec pour les applications de g\u00e9nomique environnementale a ouvert ses portes \u00e0 St.\u00a0John\u2019s (T.-N.-L.) au milieu de 2017. Il est le seul centre de recherche de ce type dont l\u2019unique mandat est de faire progresser les technologies d\u2019analyse de l\u2019ADN environnemental pour l\u2019utilisation \u00e0 des fins de biosurveillance environnementale. En partenariat avec P\u00eaches et Oc\u00e9ans Canada (MPO), des \u00e9chantillons seront pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s dans les zones c\u00f4ti\u00e8res, le plateau continental et les eaux libres de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador et seront analys\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019aide de m\u00e9thodes traditionnelles de biosurveillance et d\u2019analyse de l\u2019ADN de l\u2019environnement.
