La campylobact\u00e9riose est la maladie bact\u00e9rienne d\u2019origine alimentaire la plus fr\u00e9quemment signal\u00e9e au Canada, surpassant en nombre les cas signal\u00e9s d\u2019infections \u00e0 la Listeria, la Salmonella et Escherichia coli combin\u00e9s. La contamination par le Campylobacter a \u00e9galement un impact \u00e9conomique important sur l\u2019industrie avicole du fait que diff\u00e9rents oiseaux domestiques et sauvages en sont les r\u00e9servoirs naturels. Il est essentiel de conna\u00eetre ce microbe dans le contexte de l\u2019agro\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me et de la cha\u00eene de production avicole de la Colombie-Britannique pour surveiller, pr\u00e9venir et contr\u00f4ler la contamination alimentaire associ\u00e9e au Campylobacter. Nous visons \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre une approche \u00e0 plusieurs volets en d\u00e9veloppant et en int\u00e9grant de nouveaux outils de caract\u00e9risation, de d\u00e9tection et de biocontr\u00f4le pour r\u00e9duire la pr\u00e9sence du Campylobacter dans la cha\u00eene agroalimentaire de la Colombie-Britannique. Nous appliquerons le s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome entier (SGE) et son analyse pour caract\u00e9riser les isolats cliniques et environnementaux du Campylobacter recueillis en Colombie-Britannique. Ces isolats seront \u00e9galement test\u00e9s en laboratoire pour obtenir leur niveau\u00a0de virulence. Nous adapterons la d\u00e9tection et le contr\u00f4le des isolats de Campylobacter \u00e0 haut risque en fonction de leurs caract\u00e9ristiques g\u00e9notypiques, ph\u00e9notypiques et \u00e9pid\u00e9miologiques. Les informations tir\u00e9es du SGE serviront \u00e9galement \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper un nouveau test mol\u00e9culaire pour la d\u00e9tection du Campylobacter dans les \u00e9chantillons environnementaux et agroalimentaires. Nous isolerons \u00e9galement les bact\u00e9riophages du Campylobacter, puis nous proc\u00e9derons \u00e0 la caract\u00e9risation de leur g\u00e9nome par le SGE pour garantir l\u2019absence de g\u00e8nes de virulence dans ces phages. Ils pourront servir aux strat\u00e9gies de biocontr\u00f4le une fois que l\u2019\u00e9ventail de leurs h\u00f4tes et leur persistance dans l\u2019environnement auront \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tablis. Les bact\u00e9riophages s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s seront int\u00e9gr\u00e9s dans un nouveau mat\u00e9riau d\u2019emballage alimentaire biod\u00e9gradable afin de r\u00e9duire la charge du Campylobacter dans les produits de volaille crus. Notre projet se traduira par des avantages sociaux et \u00e9conomiques importants au Canada en 1)\u00a0offrant une efficacit\u00e9 accrue, une pr\u00e9cision et un co\u00fbt abordable au chapitre de la surveillance et de la d\u00e9tection du Campylobacter et 2)\u00a0en d\u00e9veloppant un nouvel emballage antimicrobien biod\u00e9gradable qui r\u00e9duit la pr\u00e9sence du Campylobacter dans les produits de volaille crus, ce qui aidera la Colombie-Britannique \u00e0 maintenir sa position de chef de file en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avicole et alimentaire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Le Campylobacter est reconnu comme un pathog\u00e8ne alimentaire majeur dans de nombreuses r\u00e9gions du monde.
