Un nouveau type de bact\u00e9rie favorisant la croissance des plantes (BFCP), qui vit en symbiose avec les plantes, peut produire des taux exceptionnellement \u00e9lev\u00e9s de r\u00e9gulateurs de croissance des plantes (hormones) connus sous le nom de cytokinines (CK). L\u2019application d\u2019une BFCP en tant que biofertilisant pour l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des cultures repr\u00e9sente une occasion exceptionnelle de favoriser une agriculture v\u00e9g\u00e9tale durable et \u00e9cologique. Le succ\u00e8s de ce nouveau biostimulant d\u00e9pend de la capacit\u00e9 de la bact\u00e9rie \u00e0 fournir des hormones puissantes et biologiquement actives aux plantes alors que la disponibilit\u00e9 de l\u2019eau est limit\u00e9e. Pour s\u00e9lectionner les bact\u00e9ries les plus efficaces, nous utilisons une technologie de pointe (spectrom\u00e9trie de masse \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution) pour rep\u00e9rer une nouvelle gamme de substances s\u00e9cr\u00e9t\u00e9es par la BFCP qui favorisent la croissance des plantes. Nous surveillons \u00e9galement la croissance des plantes en r\u00e9ponse au traitement avec le biofertilisant dans des conditions optimales et de s\u00e9cheresse. Un outil de criblage perfectionn\u00e9, mis au point dans le cadre de ce projet, servira \u00e0 surveiller l\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 du nouveau biofertilisant durant l\u2019entreposage et aidera \u00e0 la s\u00e9lection de nouvelles formulations de fertilisants microbiens. La composition du biofertilisant sera optimis\u00e9e pour la culture du soya; cependant, ses caract\u00e9ristiques universelles favorisant la croissance peuvent \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9es \u00e0 d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces v\u00e9g\u00e9tales, en particulier celles qui sont fr\u00e9quemment soumises \u00e0 des saisons de croissance s\u00e8ches. La mise en \u0153uvre des r\u00e9sultats de nos travaux aura lieu dans les deux ans suivant l\u2019ach\u00e8vement du projet et comprendra l\u2019intensification du processus de fabrication, l\u2019enregistrement l\u00e9gal de la formulation et la commercialisation du nouveau produit. Notre biofertilisant favorisant la croissance des plantes cr\u00e9era un avantage \u00e9conomique pour les producteurs de soya locaux et sera b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour le march\u00e9 ontarien des solutions nutritionnelles pour les plantes. Cela pourra mener \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de nouveaux emplois dans les secteurs de la fabrication, de la distribution et de la commercialisation des produits agricoles, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la nouvelle \u00e9conomie de l\u2019Ontario.
