Par cons\u00e9quent, les d\u00e9cisions de gestion des ressources naturelles prises par les communaut\u00e9s canadiennes, les peuples autochtones, les industries et les organismes de r\u00e9glementation n\u00e9cessitent des informations opportunes et pertinentes concernant les risques et les impacts des activit\u00e9s humaines, en particulier dans le contexte des changements climatiques.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;analyse de l&rsquo;ADN environnemental (ADNe) \u2014 mat\u00e9riel g\u00e9n\u00e9tique transf\u00e9r\u00e9 par les organismes dans leur environnement \u2014 s&rsquo;av\u00e8re tr\u00e8s prometteuse, l&rsquo;ADNe pouvant fournir des informations non destructives, rapides, \u00e9conomiques et pr\u00e9cises sur la biodiversit\u00e9. Par exemple, une seule pellet\u00e9e d&rsquo;eau d&rsquo;un lac peut renseigner sur la pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces animales \u00e0 risque, invasives, nuisibles et culturellement et \u00e9conomiquement importantes. Cependant, la variation consid\u00e9rable de qualit\u00e9 des donn\u00e9es et la mauvaise compr\u00e9hension des facteurs affectant la d\u00e9tection de l&rsquo;ADNe ont entrav\u00e9 son adoption dans la politique r\u00e9glementaire et la prise de d\u00e9cision en mati\u00e8re de gestion des ressources naturelles.<\/p>\n<p>Les utilisateurs finaux (par exemple, les gouvernements, les Premi\u00e8res Nations, les ONG et l&rsquo;industrie) r\u00e9clament tous aujourd&rsquo;hui la normalisation des m\u00e9thodes et l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s aux ressources d&rsquo;ADNe afin de soutenir les \u00e9tudes \u00e9cologiques pour la surveillance des esp\u00e8ces en p\u00e9ril, la gestion des esp\u00e8ces envahissantes et l&rsquo;octroi de permis et d&rsquo;autorisations pour les projets \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques, miniers, forestiers, manufacturiers et d&rsquo;infrastructure. L&rsquo;impact est consid\u00e9rable. De meilleurs outils de surveillance pourraient permettre de d\u00e9tecter les n\u00e9matodes vivants du pin et d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer les essais d&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 du traitement du bois facilitant le commerce des produits forestiers canadiens (d&rsquo;une valeur de 33,2\u00a0milliards de dollars en 2019), de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement le co\u00fbt de la gestion des esp\u00e8ces aquatiques envahissantes (par exemple, 3,6\u00a0milliards de dollars par an rien qu&rsquo;en Ontario) gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une d\u00e9tection pr\u00e9coce, et de prot\u00e9ger des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes pr\u00e9cieux.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet iTrackDNA renforcera la capacit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;utilisateur final gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des outils analytiques d&rsquo;ADNe novateurs, accessibles et socialement responsables, fond\u00e9s sur la g\u00e9nomique et destin\u00e9s \u00e0 une prise de d\u00e9cision efficace\u00a0en : 1) soutenant la cr\u00e9ation d&rsquo;une norme nationale de d\u00e9tection cibl\u00e9e d&rsquo;ADNe; 2) construisant des trousses d&rsquo;ADNe pour d\u00e9tecter 100\u00a0invert\u00e9br\u00e9s, poissons, amphibiens, oiseaux, reptiles et mammif\u00e8res prioritaires dans les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes c\u00f4tiers et int\u00e9rieurs du Canada; 3) appliquant 10\u00a0trousses d&rsquo;ADNe pour d\u00e9terminer l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 de la biosurveillance, de la biosalubrit\u00e9 et de la biorestauration des animaux; 4) cr\u00e9ant un logiciel d&rsquo;aide \u00e0 la d\u00e9cision pour mod\u00e9liser les changements de la biodiversit\u00e9 r\u00e9gionale en int\u00e9grant les connaissances \u00e9cologiques autochtones; 5) \u00e9laborant un cadre de formation, de certification et de validation interlaboratoires de l&rsquo;ADNe pour les consultants, les chercheurs, les organismes de r\u00e9glementation et les gestionnaires; et en 6) concevant un document d&rsquo;orientation sur l&rsquo;int\u00e9gration des m\u00e9thodes fond\u00e9es sur l&rsquo;ADNe dans la gestion, les politiques et les r\u00e8glements.<\/p>\n<p>D&rsquo;ici 2025, l&rsquo;ADNe repr\u00e9sentera sans aucun doute un outil d&rsquo;\u00e9valuation courant, de nombreux pays investissant actuellement dans la technologie de l&rsquo;ADNe.
