L\u2019Agence s\u2019allie \u00e0 des scientifiques de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la ColombieBritannique ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 un r\u00e9seau de chercheurs de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Laval, au Qu\u00e9bec, et de Ressources naturelles Canada afin de mettre au point, de valider et de d\u00e9ployer des outils de biosurveillance fond\u00e9s sur le g\u00e9nome. Ces outils viseront deux esp\u00e8ces : la spongieuse rose, qui se nourrit sur un \u00e9ventail d\u2019esp\u00e8ces d\u2019arbres importantes sur le plan \u00e9conomique, et Phytophthora ramorum, qui s\u2019attaque \u00e0 des douzaines d\u2019esp\u00e8ces de plantes et d\u2019arbres, dont le ch\u00eane. Ces outils de d\u00e9tection de l\u2019ADN cibleront des r\u00e9gions uniques du g\u00e9nome des ravageurs, am\u00e9liorant ainsi la capacit\u00e9 de l\u2019ACIA \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer et \u00e0 identifier ces deux esp\u00e8ces. Le projet se d\u00e9roulera sur une p\u00e9riode approximative de trois ans. Par la suite, les laboratoires de l\u2019ACIA utiliseront les outils pour optimiser et compl\u00e9ter leurs proc\u00e9dures actuelles.<\/p>\n<p>Les avantages de ces outils seront consid\u00e9rables. Le fait d\u2019en apprendre davantage sur les sources d\u2019infestation permettra de r\u00e9duire les ressources consacr\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019inspection et \u00e0 la surveillance de m\u00eame que les co\u00fbts des traitements. En emp\u00eachant l\u2019introduction et l\u2019\u00e9tablissement de ces ravageurs d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part, on \u00e9vite les d\u00e9penses li\u00e9es \u00e0 la lutte antiparasitaire tout en gardant le Canada exempt de ces organismes nuisibles, un statut fort important pour pr\u00e9server les march\u00e9s d\u2019exportation.
