En plus de son potentiel d\u2019am\u00e9lioration des produits laitiers et carn\u00e9s, et de l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire, l\u2019ajout de la s\u00e9quence du g\u00e9nome de la vache (Bos taurus) \u00e0 la liste croissante des g\u00e9nomes animaux s\u00e9quenc\u00e9s, aidera les chercheurs \u00e0 approfondir leurs connaissances sur le g\u00e9nome humain et \u00e0 \u00e9laborer de nouvelles strat\u00e9gies dans la lutte contre la maladie.<\/p>\n<p>Notre projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 un volet du grand Projet de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age du g\u00e9nome bovin, initiative internationale dirig\u00e9e par le National Human Genome Research Institute. Pour en savoir plus sur les g\u00e8nes bovins individuellement, nous avons d\u00e9riv\u00e9 les s\u00e9quences de clones d\u2019ADNc pleine longueur, dans le cadre d\u2019une collaboration avec le BC Cancer Agency Genome Sciences Centre \u00e0 Vancouver et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de l\u2019Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>Ce catalogage des transcriptions est particuli\u00e8rement opportun, vu le co\u00fbt \u00e9norme que le Canada a d\u00fb assumer en raison de l\u2019enc\u00e9phalopathie spongiforme bovine (ESB). Nos travaux de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age aideront \u00e0 lutter contre l&rsquo;ESB, et feront fondamentalement progresser notre compr\u00e9hension du b\u00e9tail. Les r\u00e9sultats de ces travaux contribueront en outre \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la recherche en sant\u00e9 animale, la nutrition, et r\u00e9duiront les r\u00e9percussions de l&rsquo;agriculture sur l&rsquo;environnement.<\/p>\n<p>La d\u00e9termination de la s\u00e9quence compl\u00e8te des clones d&rsquo;ADNc bovins sera avantageuse \u00e0 long terme pour la sant\u00e9 humaine et le secteur de la biotechnologie, ainsi que pour les industries du boeuf et des produits laitiers. Les donn\u00e9es du Projet sur le g\u00e9nome bovin soutiendront la recherche sur le b\u00e9tail pendant les 50 prochaines ann\u00e9es et deviendront la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour la d\u00e9termination des animaux les mieux adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 un march\u00e9 donn\u00e9 ou \u00e0 l\u2019environnement.
