Celle\u00adci survient lorsque le muscle est affaibli par l\u2019usure du temps, \u00e0 tel point que le c\u0153ur ne parvient plus \u00e0 pomper assez de sang dans toutes les parties du corps pour soutenir les activit\u00e9s normales. Les personnes qui souffrent d\u2019une d\u00e9faillance cardiaque avanc\u00e9e peuvent \u00e0 peine monter une vol\u00e9e d\u2019escaliers sans se reposer, chercher leur souffle et avoir l\u2019impression de se noyer.<\/p>\n<p>Le D<sup>r<\/sup> Liu dirige une \u00e9quipe de chercheurs qui s\u2019emploient \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir des biomarqueurs mol\u00e9culaires dans le sang afin d\u2019identifier les patients qui en sont aux premiers stades de la d\u00e9faillance cardiaque. Le projet Plate\u00adforme de profilage de l\u2019expression des prot\u00e9ines pour la d\u00e9couverte des biomarqueurs des cardiopathies permettra de mettre \u00e0 l\u2019essai les m\u00e9dicaments actuels contre la d\u00e9faillance cardiaque pour d\u00e9terminer leur efficacit\u00e9 aux premiers stades de la maladie, et m\u00e8nera \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration et \u00e0 l\u2019essai de nouveaux m\u00e9dicaments susceptibles de pr\u00e9venir ou de retarder la d\u00e9faillance cardiaque.<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9quipe d\u2019experts en recherche en sciences cardiovasculaires et en prot\u00e9omique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Toronto travaillera \u00e0 la mise au point de ce nouvel outil de diagnostic des premiers stades de la d\u00e9faillance cardiaque.
