The ability to study an entire genome allows us to understand the complex genetic factors influencing our health and has unlocked more precise and personalized diagnosis and treatment options. We call this new standard of care “precision health” or “precision medicine.”
“As a scientist, trained in genomics and trained as a medical doctor, and as a cancer patient, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, I have been able to experience first-hand the power of genomics,” says Catalina Lopez-Correa, Chief Scientific Officer at Genome Canada.
Catalina discusses the importance of genomics in her health journey and the power of genomic data to unlock next generation health care for Canadians.
