Genome Canada is delighted to welcome Mr. Paul-Émile Cloutier as Vice President Advocacy and External Relations. Mr. Cloutier is responsible for managing a portfolio which includes government and stakeholder relations, communications, events and sponsorships and Genomics in Society activities.
Mr. Cloutier, a native of Montreal, brings to Genome Canada a depth of experience as a bilingual, senior executive who has worked in complex not-for-profit and private sector organizations. Before joining Genome Canada, he spent 11 years at the Canadian Medical Association, initially as Assistant Secretary General responsible for advocacy, communications, public affairs and government relations and then, as CEO and Secretary General responsible for strategic planning, stakeholder relations and alliances, as well as overseeing the policy direction of the Association. Prior to joining the Canadian Medical Association, Mr. Cloutier worked as a senior executive at VIA Rail Canada in the area of government relations, and as chief of staff and senior policy advisor for several federal ministers. He also worked for the government of Ontario as chief of staff to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, responsible for federal –provincial relations.
