Genome Canada’s Board of Directors is delighted to welcome two new Board members, Mr. Iain Stewart and Dr. Cami Ryan. Both of these esteemed leaders offer valuable expertise and insight which will be instrumental in advancing our vision, mission and strategic directions.
Meet Genome Canada’s new Board members:
Iain Stewart brings a wealth of experience in federal government leadership, serving as President of the National Research Council, including its Industrial Research Assistance Program, from 2016-24 and as Public Health Agency of Canada’s lead on its COVID-19 pandemic response in 2020-21. He was previously Associate Secretary (Associate Deputy Minister) and Assistant Secretary (International Affairs Justice and Defence) of the Treasury Board Secretariat. He also holds Board positions at NavCanada, the Canadian Centre for Innovation and Competitiveness, and the Finance Committee of the Royal Society of Canada. His career has demonstrated his long-term commitment to advancing research and innovation to benefit Canadians.
Dr. Cami Ryan brings strong industry background, serving as Senior Business Partner for Industry Affairs and Sustainability with Bayer CropScience Canada. She is also a Bayer Science Fellow and a Professional Affiliate with the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan. In her work, she advocates passionately for policy grounded in science-based evidence in the agriculture industry. Dr. Ryan has been on Genome Canada’s Science and Industry Advisory Committee (SIAC) since 2018 and has served as its Chair since January 2024.
Board Directors are appointed for a two-year term, renewable for up to a maximum of six years.
